The Virginia Symphony Orchestra announced its 98th season Thursday, planning a series of concerts beginning in September and running through April 2019. Music director JoAnn Falletta will also return for her 28th season with the organization.
In a news release, Falletta said the season “presents a palette of extraordinary depth and color, featuring favorites and exciting discoveries that will delight every music lover.”
The 2018-19 season spans nine concerts. The first in the series runs Sept. 21-23 and features Modest Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition” alongside a contemporary violin concerto crafted by film composer Danny Elfman.
