Kimball film series explores long walks as personal journeys

Between Reese Witherspoon in "Wild" and the duo of Robert Redford and Nick Nolte in "A Walk in the Woods," a lot of A-list actors have been taking personal journeys along hiking trails in recent years.

Marianne Johnston noticed it even before those films. Johnston, the program director at the Kimball Theatre in Williamsburg, was impressed by the crowds that turned out a few years ago for "The Way," set on the El Camino de Santiago trail in Spain and starring Emilio Estevez and Martin Sheen. Later, "A Walk in the Woods" did equally well at the Kimball.
