Bill Fowler has traveled from the Pacific to the Atlantic. The 66 year-old Hampton native who currently lives in Cinncinatti has been on a bike trip to promote awareness for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, which affects his grandson Logan, 9.
Fowler stopped by Jamestown Island Wednesday on the last leg of his tour, which will end at Fort Monroe Saturday when he dips his bike tires into the water.
He started the journey in Seattle on June 26 and since has pedaled his bike across the country. Fowler said he wants to promote awareness since many people who suffer from the form of MDA aren't able to become advocates themselves.
