Board continues to hammer out teacher payscale

Pay raises in Williamsburg-James City County schools for teachers could fluctuate between 1.41 percent and 6.54 percent next year under a new proposed pay scale.

The proposed pay scale was presented by Tim Baker, the district’s senior director of talent management and organizational development at Tuesday night’s work session at the James City County Government Center.

The pay increase would average out to 1.5 percent per employee, and the employees receiving larger raises would be the ones who had spent two years in the same step on the current pay scale, said Baker.  The teachers receiving the lowest raises would be the teachers with a masters degree...
