Vince Callahan, longtime lawmaker, dies at 82

Vince Callahan Jr., a longtime state delegate lawmaker and former chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, has died, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reports.

Television station WUSA reports that Callahan died of the West Nile virus, which he contracted in August. He was 82.

Callahan, a Republican from Fairfax, served in the House of Delegates for more than 40 years.

Sen. Mark Warner, who was governor when Callahan was still in the House, issued a statement:
