GOP soap opera still playing out

At the beginning of this presidential campaign, the Republicans had an extraordinary group of candidates who would have had an excellent opportunity to win the national election. A Republican president, along with a Republican Senate and House, would have had the opportunity to overturn their much-disliked Obama initiatives.

So, what happened to this golden opportunity?

In true soap opera fashion, a colorful non-political showman with no discernible policies other than narrow isolationist views on immigration and trade tariffs came on the scene and simply electrified much of the country.
