Two boys are accused of jumping on and punching a corrections officer at the Merrimac Juvenile Detention Center in James City County, police said.
Charges for Ahmad Goodall, 16, of Doswell and a 15-year-old boy, of Merry Point, stem from an Nov. 17 scuffle at the juvenile detention center on Route 143.
Around 6:10 p.m., an officer told Goodall he'd be put in "timeout" for being disruptive. Goodall started cursing at him and nodded to another inmate.
After Goodall's gesture, the 15-year-old flipped over a hygiene cart, a table and then a bookshelf, and the two walked up to the officer in what authorities described as an aggressive manner.
