Lipcius named Freshman All-American; Local stars commit

Tennessee first baseman Andre Lipcius, a Lafayette High graduate who hit .275 with 26 RBI and nine stolen bases, was named a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.

Last month, Lipcius was also recognized as a Freshman All-SEC selection and was the lone Volunteer to start and play in all 52 games.

Lipcius tallied only four errors in more than 470 chances in addition to posting a 21-game streak of reaching base safely to start his collegiate career.

Andre's twin, Luc, also had an impressive debut season for the Vols with 20 starts and 33 games played in right field and as a designated hitter (.256, 1 HR, 8 RBIs).
