Bauer steady on the mound for Lafayette in 10-1 win over Warhill

Lafayette’s baseball team has shown week-to-week improvement, but still not on quite the level coach Rick Schenk demands.

The 8-1 Rams coasted Thursday to a 10-1 win at Warhill. Still, Schenk would have liked to see Lafayette end it earlier after jumping out to a 9-1 lead after four innings that included a seven-run first inning.

Lafayette’s lone loss was a 4-3 defeat to Poquoson in which the Rams led 3-0.

“We can’t do that,” Schenk said. “We have to put them away and get out of here.”

On Thursday, Schenk told his starting pitcher, junior Chase Bauer to keep the pressure on Warhill and not allow a run.
