Virginia hires Bronco Mendenhall to be its new football coach

After spending the last 11 seasons as Brigham Young’s coach, Bronco Mendenhall is coming to Charlottesville to take over the same role at Virginia.

Mendenhall, a 49-year-old native of Alpine, Utah, comes to U.Va. after leading the Cougars to 11 straight bowls. This season, BYU is 9-3 and has accepted an invitation to the Las Vegas Bowl. He has compiled a 99-42 record with BYU, including 6-4 in bowls.

He'll be introduced at U.Va. on Monday in a 10 a.m. news conference.
