Track and cross country standout Thorin Jean was honored Monday at Jamestown’s fall sports banquet as the Virginia state winner of the Wendy’s High School Heisman award and a $1,000 scholarship.

Jamestown’s Alexa Halko also took the U.S. Paralympic Female Track Athlete of the Year and was recognized at the fall sports banquet.

Halko competed at the world championships in London. She won two silver medals in the women’s 400- and 800-meter races and a bronze in the 100.

She also is the American record-holder in the 200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters and 1500 meters, according to a news release from the U.S. Paralympics website.
