Signing Day roundup: Walsingham's Washington inks with Wake Forest

WILLIAMSBURG -- Pen in hand, Richard Washington bowed his head Wednesday afternoon at Walsingham Academy to sign a national letter of intent to play basketball at Wake Forest before pausing to ask for the date.

“11-11,” Walsingham Academy athletic director Neil Bailey reminded him. “Signing Day.”

Washington, who transferred from Menchville High to Walsingham as a junior last year, is longtime Trojans coach Billy Barnes’ first player to commit to an Atlantic Coast Conference school.
