Rochard and Warhill: a softball force not soon to be forgotten

Because they tend to ride one arm throughout a season, great high school softball teams usually have elite pitchers.

There is no getting around that. There is no getting around that for years and years to come, 2017 Virginia Gazette Softball Player of the Year Keely Rochard will be synonymous with Warhill softball because of her role as the Lions' one and only ace the past two seasons that each ended with a Group 3A title.

Warhill coach Tom Bunn insists there was a much deeper theme within the program that he took over before that first state championship season than simply the physical skills of Virginia Tech-bound Rochard guiding the Lions to glory.
