Prep roundup: Lafayette players named to all-state first team

Three Lafayette football players have been named to the Virginia High School League’s Class 4 all-state first team, and another was named all-state second team.

Jack Erwin, Armonii Burden and Seth Osborne received first team honors, and Trey Canady earned a nod as second team all-state.

Two players from Louisa County, the school that beat Lafayette in the Class 4 semifinals, received Player of the Year honors — Malik Bell as Offensive Player of the Year and Tony Thurston as Defensive Player of the Year.

Thurston has been offered at the College of William and Mary.
