Skaters take to new Colonial Williamsburg ice rink

WILLIAMSBURG — Colonial Williamsburg's first official ice skaters took to the rink Friday evening, as Liberty's Ice Pavilion was opened.

"It's only fitting that Colonial Williamsburg's first ice skating rink be named after our first mascot, Liberty, the newest and most popular member of our interpretive staff," Colonial Williamsburg President Mitchell Reiss said, as Liberty — one of two Briard puppies who portray George Washington's dog — sat beside him.

The 50-foot, by 70-foot rink is made of real ice.
