YORK – Wednesday didn’t go quite as Bruton senior DaSha Hill had planned it.
Her goal was to compete in the long jump in the Bay Rivers District track and field meet, make it out of Bruton’s “Pit” up to the school’s softball field for the Panthers’ game against York and back down to the track to compete in individual sprint and relay races on Senior Night.
Hill won the long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 8 inches, but exited the softball game in the third inning with an injury, ending her competition for the evening in each sport.
Hill pulled up while running to first base and wanted to return, pleaded, in fact. But it wasn’t worth the risk of further injury for softball...
