Newport News and South Carolina runners claim Jamestown 4-H Discovery Run 10K titles

For the second straight Saturday, a young newcomer with ties to a local military base won a Colonial Road Runners Grand Prix race with an impressively fast time and showed they will be a force to contend with on the local road racing scene for several years to come.

At the 22nd Queens Lake Run on March 26, it was Sean O'Hollearn, 23, of Hampton and Langley Air Force Base winning for the men in a quick 15:50.

On Saturday at the third annual Jamestown 4-H Discovery Run 10K, it was Kacey Gibson, 26, of Newport News and Fort Eustis, who ran an impressive time of 39:26 to win the women's race, over 4 minutes ahead of runner-up Debbie McLaughlin, 50, of Williamsburg (43:44), and...
