Boys soccer teams readying for balanced Bay Rivers

Unlike the last few seasons, there are more questions than answers in the early going for local Bay Rivers District boys soccer teams. Each side started its regular season last week.

Lafayette, a 4A semifinalist last season, lost seven starters and Bruton graduated about eight starters after reaching the 2A final.

Inexperienced, but loaded with talent, Jamestown lost one of its top players for the season to an injury.

And Warhill lost every single starter and 16 of its 22 players from a season ago.

But the consensus around the district is the Bay Rivers, topped by Smithfield and York last season, should again be marked by parity.
