Top boys tennis player DeBerry pressed by teammate and C-18 champ Yowell

Jamestown boys tennis coach Bob Artis tells his players they don't just play for victory, but for respect.

Artis points out that his top-two singles players in the spring, No. 1 Grayson DeBerry and No. 2 Albon Yowell, not only take that advice to heart, but play their best tennis when going up against top talent.

Naturally, DeBerry and Yowell staged an epic three-set match when they collided in the Conference 18 singles final. DeBerry, the 2016 Virginia Gazette boys tennis Player of the Year, finished his junior season with the better overall body of work, but on that day, Yowell prevailed.
