Rams make progress at Virginia Duals

The Lafayette wrestling team closed competition Saturday at the Virginia Duals in the Hampton Coliseum with a mark of 1-2, finishing with a 42-27 win over Peninsula Catholic.

Lafayette started Friday with a 56-19 loss to Chesapeake’s Oscar Smith, which was edged by Smithfield in the Black and Blue Division third-place match.

The Rams then lost 45-36 to Nansemond River.

“I think my kids are learning to scrap better,” Lafayette coach Chris Wiatt said, “(We) just need to keep taking steps forward.”
