Anheuser-Busch donates 65 acres in upper York County to the Civil War Trust

The Anheuser-Busch Foundation announced Tuesday it will donate 65 acres of land on which the 1862 Battle of Williamsburg was fought, deeding it to the Civil War Trust, a nonprofit dedicated to the preservation of battlefields.

The York County parcel borders northbound Interstate 64 near the Colonial Parkway. It was originally part of Anheuser-Busch’s former Busch Gardens property, and is located behind the Busch Industrial Park and Busch Corporate Center, both on Penniman Road.

The site is the only land during which the afternoon phase of the day-long battle took place that is currently protected from development.
