WILLIAMSBURG - Venture capitalist and former William and Mary Rector James Murray will speak at the university’s 2015 Charter Day ceremony, slated for Feb. 6 in W&M Hall.
The annual event marks the founding of the college through a royal charter granted by King William III and Queen Mary II on Feb. 8, 1693. The ceremony is free and open to the public.
W&M Chancellor and former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates will attend and offer welcoming remarks. Former W&M President Thomas A. Graves, Jr., and former Virginia Commonwealth University Provost Grace E. Harris will receive honorary degrees.
