Activist Tom Redd named Crab Carnival grand marshal

Activist Tom Redd has been named grand marshal for the 35th annual Crab Carnival.

Redd grew up in West Point where he attended West Point public schools and graduated in 1968.

Redd attended St. Andrews Presbyterian College and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1973.

As a two-year liver transplant survivor, he is very active in supporting the University of Virginia and the Charles O. Strickler Transplant Center. For the past two years, with a tremendous amount of help from the community, he has held two golf tournaments and raised over $10,000 dollars for the UVA Transplant Patient Assistance Fund.
