Up to 7 inches of new snow predicted for Peninsula tonight

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning covering all of South Central and Southeast Virginia. The warning will be in effect from 7 p.m. Wednesday through 1 p.m. Thursday. 

Updated forecast models Wednesday morning predict the Peninsula could get up to 7 inches new snow during the period the warning is in effect. 

Light flurries could start about 8 or 9 p.m. Wednesday and get heavier closer to midnight, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Dan Proch.

“Right on the onset we might see some sprinkles or light rain mixed in,” Proch said.
