Sons of the American Revolution present donation to American Revolution Museum at Yorktown

Members of the Virginia Society Sons of the American Revolution (VASSAR) recently enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of the new American Revolution Museum at Yorktown's galleries, which debut to the public on October 15 and 16. After the tour, President Ed Truslow and the leadership of the VASSAR presented a check for $25,000 to Julie Basic, Senior Director of Development for the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, Inc., to support the new museum's fundraising campaign. The gift, which was raised from the VASSAR's more than 2,000 members, will support the new museum's first special exhibition, "AfterWARd: the Revolutionary Veterans Who Built America," which opens June 1, 2017. The exhibition will follow four veterans of the Siege of Yorktown - Henry Knox, Alexander Hamilton, James Lafayette, and the Marquis de Lafayette - and explore their lives after the Revolution and their efforts to create the United States that we know today.
