Shelter Picks: Rieley

By Sammy Johnson

Today I met one of the friendliest cats I've ever been around. Rieley is a male, beige-colored cat that is 10 years old. He showed right away that he is a confident cat, because he never ran and hid from me even though I was a total stranger. He really likes to nuzzle so he can get more petting time (once, he even nuzzled a chair in the room where we were visiting him!). I loved that he always wanted attention. He also will actually lick your hand sometimes! His tongue feels like sandpaper, but he is very gentle. Rieley is a pretty cat with white paws, a pink nose and cool yellow eyes. He is an indoor cat and has lived with both dogs and other cats, and he is all litter-trained. He really deserves a loving home for his older years!

For information on Rieley and other animals at the Peninsula SPCA, call (757) 595-1399, go to or visit the shelter at 523 J. Clyde Morris Blvd. in Newport News.
