With Alzheimer’s Awareness Month in full swing, Berkeley Oaks Memory Care Community is hosting a fundraiser to support the endeavor.

“We invite everyone to join us in helping light the way for greater Alzheimer’s awareness, more crucial research and having fun achieving these goals,” Leslie Jones, general manager at Berkeley Oaks, said in a news release.

On Thursday, “Here We Glow” will feature the illumination of a Christmas tree in purple lights, the color representing Alzheimer’s awareness. The event will feature refreshments such as hot cocoa and cider as well as music. The facility is also teaming up with Jamestown Pie Company for the Fuel the Light fundraiser, an effort to sell seasonal pies with proceeds benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association.

Given Berkeley Oaks’ ongoing efforts to help those with Alzheimer’s and dementia, the latest initiatives help expand those initiatives beyond the facility’s walls.

“At Berkeley Oaks, memory care is all we do, so our programs create an environment to allow those living with dementia to thrive to the best of their abilities,” Jones said.
