Canoeing with the Stars: Escape the chaos of the city for a night under the stars on the creek. One experienced canoeist per canoe required. 7:30-10:30 p.m. on Friday at York River State Park. Reservations required; call 566-3036. Canoes $13 per person or $8 per person for families of four or more.

Focus on Furniture: Discover the ins and outs of 18th- and 19th-century furniture and how its influences are still felt today. 2:15-3 p.m. and 3:30-4:15 p.m. Thursday and Tuesday at the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg. Included with museum admission.

Visit a Nation Builder: Explore American history in Colonial Williamsburg with Thomas Jefferson as your guide. 4 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Tuesday at the Governor’s Palace, 300 E. Palace Green St. Included with admission.

Destination Dinosaur: Journey back millions of years as animatronic dinosaurs return to the Virginia Living Museum in a new exhibit that spans indoors and out. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily at 524 J. Clyde Morris Blvd., Newport News. Included with museum admission.

Mother’s Day of Dance: Dance studios from around the Williamsburg area perform in honor of Mother’s Day. 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the Williamsburg Regional Library. Free.
