Freedom Park Night Hike: Experience the sights and sounds of Freedom Park after dark on a guided nature walk. Children must be accompanied by an adult. 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at 5537 Centerville Road. Free.

‘Pictures at an Exhibition’: The Virginia Symphony Orchestra performs Modest Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition,” Johannes Brahms’ “Academic Festival Overture” and Danny Elfman’s 2017 “Violin Concerto.” 8 p.m. Friday at the Ferguson Center for the Arts, 1 Avenue of the Arts, Newport News. William and Mary’s Monumental Moment: The college’s Lemon Project hosts a conversation about what, how and why we memorialize the past and how it affects our future. 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Sadler Center, 200 Stadium Drive. Free.

An Occasion for the Arts 50th anniversary Celebration: Leading up to the return of Williamsburg’s biggest arts event in October, this event celebrates co-founder and artist Carlton Abbott alongside hors d’oeuvres, beer and wine, live music and a silent auction of one of Abbott’s original pieces. 6-9 p.m. Saturday at the Stryker Building. Howl-O-Scream: Busch Gardens celebrates 20 years of Halloween thrills with haunted houses, scare zones, escape rooms and more. 6-10 p.m. Friday through Sunday at Busch Gardens. Included with park admission.
