ShinDIG at Jamestown: For the sixth year running, guests can enjoy an evening of bluegrass, barbecue and beautiful views of the James River. 6-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Historic Jamestowne. Tickets are $40 per person and include an all-you-can-eat barbecue dinner, with vegetarian options, by Carrot Tree Kitchens. Beer and wine will be available for purchase. Ceramics Up Close: What sort of dishes did our colonial ancestors buy? Where did the ceramics come from and how were they used? First join the conversation on a guided tour, then drop in for a behind the scenes view of the museum’s ceramic storage vault. 1:30-4 p.m. at the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg. Goldenrods Galore: With 20 species of goldenrod on the Peninsula, come learn to recognize their species side by side as you explore the Williamsburg Botanical Garden’s swamp and calcareous ravine habitats. 10-11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Williamsburg Botanical Garden inside Freedom Park, 5537 Centerville Road. Williamsburg Farmers Market: More than 40 vendors will bring meats, produce, artisan chocolates and more. Stephen Christoff will perform live music from 9-11 a.m. and the Master Gardeners will hold an exhibit. 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday in Merchants Square. Free.

Rhythms on the Riverwalk Concert Series: Yorktown’s latest concert series continues with dance-worthy tunes from the country musicians of Little Country. Bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating. 6:30 p.m. Friday at Riverwalk Landing. Free.

African-American Artists: Discover the talent and accomplishments of African-American artists and artisans in the 18th-20th centuries. This guided tour of the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg showcases a variety of the folk and decorative arts they created, as well as art that depicts their lives. 10 a.m. Friday at the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg. 2nd Sundays Williamsburg: The recurring event celebrates unique art and local artists — and music — throughout the streets surrounding Colonial Williamsburg. 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, 423 Prince George St. Free.

Painting on the River: Local artist Elizabeth Lester will guide guests through painting techniques, culminating in taking home your own work of art. 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Watermen’s Museum, 309 Water St., Yorktown. $30, includes supplies and art to take home. ‘Leading Ladies:’ The Williamsburg Players present a Broadway-worthy cabaret show starring Tiffany Haas, a Yorktown native who starred in “Wicked” on Broadway. Brews That Benefit: Say hello to fall with 10 Alewerks craft beer samples, games, the Prost food truck, live music and more. Proceeds benefit the local branch of Warriors at Ease and other charities.
