Russian-born virtuoso Natasha Paremski returns to the Virginia Symphony Orchestra stage this month to perform Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1.

Paremski began her piano studies at age 4 at Andreyev School of Music, in Moscow, before moving to the United States a few years later. She made her professional debut at age 9 and debuted with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at 15.

The pianist excites audiences with a combination of technique, interpretive ability and dynamic performances. Her talent has resulted in several prestigious awards, including the Prix Montblanc and the Classical Recording Foundation’s Young Artist of the Year.

The Virginia Symphony Orchestra’s program also includes Dohnányi’s Symphonic Minutes and Bartók’s “Concerto for Orchestra,” which is the piece JoAnn Falletta used to audition for her position as the symphony’s music director 25 years ago.

Performances are 8 p.m., Jan. 22 at Chrysler Hall and Norfolk; 8 p.m., Jan. 23 at Ferguson Center for the Arts in Newport News; and 2:30 p.m., Jan. 24 at Sadler Center in Virginia Beach. Ticket prices range from $25 to $110, or $10 for students.

The symphony also presents “Songs for a Dreamer: A Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.,” with orchestral and vocal music inspired by Dr. King’s legacy. The performance is free, occurring at 7 p.m. on Jan. 17 at Calvary Revival Church in Norfolk.
