A new audience will gain access to The Virginia Gazette’s coverage, as WHRO begins broadcasting weekly readings of the newspaper Wednesday.

“The WHRO Voice” program offers a radio reading service for individuals who are legally blind or disabled. The Gazette joins other featured newspapers, the Daily Press and the Virginian Pilot, as well as original programming.

Initially, the weekly reading will cover the most recent Wednesday issue, with plans to incorporate Saturday editions at a later date.

“The WHRO Voice” The Virginia Gazette reading will air at 1 p.m. each Wednesday, available for free listening on whro.org/voice or the WHRO app. The signal is also available via specially modified radios; to request one, call 889-9379 or email james.holzer@WHRO.org.
