ALEWERKS HOSTS BENEFIT for CANINE COMPANIONS FOR INDEPENDENCE

ALEWERKS BREWING CO. will host a benefit for Canine Companions for Independence Sunday, August 26, from 2-6 PM. There will be great craft beer, a food truck, raffle for a YETI cooler and more!
Canine Companions is a national 501C3 non-profit organization that enhances the lives of people with disabilities by providing these highly trained dogs free of charge. Canine Companions also provides ongoing support to ensure quality partnerships.
There are five Canine Companions volunteer puppy raisers on the peninsula in Chesapeake, Smithfield, Hampton, and Williamsburg. Puppy raisers teach basic commands and socialization skills. When they reach 18 months of age, the pups are returned to the Canine Companions regional headquarters for 6 months of professional training before they are matched with a child, adult, or veteran with disabilities. Canine Companions also has a facility dog program, which places these highly trained dogs with professionals in health care, visitation, or education settings. CHKD in Virginia Beach has two Facility dogs, and VCU Health has one in the Palliative Care Unit.

ALEWERKS BREWING COMPANY (alewerks.com) is located at 189 Ewell Road, Williamsburg, Va.23188
