Berna and Joseph Heyman donate to Local Authors Project at Williamsburg Regional Library

Local authors Berna and Joseph Heyman donate "The Colonel Peter Vrooman House: A House with History" and "An Egg-straordinary Folk Art Museum: the Amazing Creations of Mildred Vrooman" to Williamsburg Regional Library. Adult Services Readers' Services Librarian Andrew Smith accepts the donations. Berna Heyman's book focuses on the history of the 18th century Colonel Peter Vrooman house of Schoharie, NY. The house reflects the history of its times, from the Mohawk Iroquois who first inhabited the land through to modern times. An award-winning photographer and retired rocket scientist, Joseph Heyman offers a photographic presentation of the Extraordinary Easter Egg Museum in the Vrooman House. This is a unique study of the creative folk-art legacy of Mildred Vrooman. Mrs. Heyman graduated from Washington University. Most of her career was spent at the College of William and Mary, where she retired as Associate Dean of University Libraries. Dr. Heyman retired from NASA in 2001 as the Chief Technologist for Langley Research Center and again in 2013 as Chief of Innovation for Applied Research Associates. These titles will be added to the Local Authors Project collection at the library. For more information call 757.259.4042.
