Chesapeake Financial Shares Elects Altaffer to Board of Directors at 2017 Annual Shareholders Meeting

Kilmarnock, VA. Chesapeake Financial Shares, holding company for Chesapeake Bank, is pleased to announce the election of R. Blaine Altaffer to its Board of Directors. The election took place at the 117th Annual Shareholders Meeting on Friday, April 6 at Rappahannock-Westminster Canterbury in Irvington, Virginia. In making the announcement, Jeffrey M. Szyperski, Chairman, CEO & President, commented, "Blaine brings to us a wealth of business knowledge especially in the retail sales and marketing space. We are excited to have his leadership at the holding company level."
Altaffer is the CEO of Green Top Sporting Goods, the largest hunting, fishing and outdoor retailer in Virginia. Prior to joining Green Top, he was the senior vice president at Time Warner Cable where he oversaw residential sales, managing a sales force of over 7,000, for the second largest cable company in the U.S. with over 18 million households served. Blaine started his retail career at Circuit City in Richmond where he managed various divisions throughout the organization.
He is also involved in his community through the following organizations and boards: Board Member at Christ Church School, Nation Youth & Education Committee Member of Ducks Unlimited, Member of the parents' council at Virginia Tech, Committee Member of the NNK Alumni of Randolph Macon College (of which he is a graduate), and Advisor to the NNK Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scouts. Blaine and his wife, Beth, live in Manakin-Sabot.
At the same meeting where Mr. Altaffer was elected, Chesapeake Financial Shares reported that their stock price was up 38.8% from $21.60 per share at December 31, 2016 to $30.00 per share at December 31, 2017, and the stock has had a total return of 203% over the past 10 years while maintaining a consistent dividend for that entire period. At the meeting, the CFS Directors for the coming year were re-elected. They were: Eugene S. Hudnall, Jr., John H. Hunt, II, Thomas E. Kellum, Craig J. Kelly, Douglas D. Monroe, Jr., Bruce P. Robertson, William F. Shumadine, Jr., Robert J. Singley, Sr., Jeffrey M. Szyperski, and Thomas G. Tingle.
