Cycling Without Age - Williamsburg celebrates public launch at Billsburg Brewery

Community members gathered at Billsburg Brewery on Tuesday, June 12th, to kick off the public launching of a new program, Cycling Without Age - Williamsburg. Live music was performed by local musician and partner of Edgeworth Park at New Town, Scott Wise, and a portion of proceeds earned from both Billsburg Brewery and The Hungry Pug were donated to the program. In addition to Edgeworth Park, other sponsors were acknowledged for their generous support. These sponsors included Steve Rose and Eco Discovery Park, Williamsburg Landing, Ironbound Gym, Prism Contractors & Engineers, Inc., Williamsburg Area Bicyclists,and Dave Baum, owner of Billsburg Brewery. Prior to the event, several residents from Verena At the Reserve were the first to experience the program's offerings, and each expressed joy and satisfaction and an eagerness for future rides.

Cycling Without Age - Williamsburg, VA is a joint project of the Williamsburg Area Bicyclists, a local bicycling club, and BikeWalk Williamsburg, a bicycling and walking advocacy organization. This free community service pairs residents from continuing care retirement communities with a "pilot" on a special electric bike called a trishaw. Up to two passengers at a time will enjoy both the companionship of the pilots and a pleasant ride along the Virginia Capital Trail and other safe local routes.
