District 24-I, Sub-District-1 Bland Contest

The Williamsburg Host Lions Club hosted the Lions of Virginia District 24-I Sub-District 1 James Bland Music Competition on April 6, 2019 in the Alvin Anderson Auditorium at Williamsburg Landing in Williamsburg. There were three students who competed as instrumentalists and three vocalists who represented Lion Regions IV, V, and VI. Kearston Gonzales, Violinist, sponsored by the Poquoson Lions Club, was awarded first place in the instrumentalist category and Ava Stevenson, Mezzo-Soprano, sponsored by the Thalia Lions Club, was awarded first place in the vocalist category. Daniel Foley, Bass, sponsored by the Poquoson Lions Club was awarded second place in the vocalist category and Jaylon Hayes-Keller Viola, sponsored by the Portsmouth Host Lions Club, was awarded second place in the instrumental category. The winners will advance to the Virginia Lions State Convention which will be held on May 17, 2019 at the Delta Marriot in Chesapeake, VA.
