On Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 2 p.m., Dominion Village at Williamsburg will celebrate Black History Month and host local historical interpreter James Cameron portraying John Rollison, a free Black man of York County, Virginia in the 1700s. Rollison was born in 1723 and began his career as a shoemaker's apprentice who forged ahead as a prominent business man who owned his own shoemaker shop, as well as multiple lots in York County and Williamsburg. Rollison also supported the Patriot navy and militia in the Revolutionary War as a supplier. James Cameron, author of the book "We Hold These Truths…A Conversation with John Rollison, 1723-1780", is an experienced on-air broadcaster and a historical interpreter for the Jamestown - Yorktown Foundation who has appeared in documentaries such as "Pursuit of Honor." The event is open to the public.
