Expect delays, congestion from Fondo Ride

The Colonial Fondo Ride may cause congestion in James City County on Saturday. The Fondo is a 50- and 70-mile ride led by Cannondale-Garmin pro rider Ted King. This event begins and ends at Colonial Williamsburg's regional Visitor's Center in Williamsburg. However, much of the bike route is in James City County.

From 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, drivers may encounter delays on:
• Newman Road
• Riverview Road
• Croaker Road
• Ware Creek Road
• Mount Laurel Road
• Six Mt. Zion Road
• Fieldstone Parkway
• Old Stage Road
• Barnes Road
• Racefield Drive
• Stewarts Road
• Liberty Church Road
• Richmond Road
• Diascund Reservoir Road
• Forge Road
• Little Creek Dam Road
• Chickahominy Road
• Cranston's Mill Pond Road
• Jolly Pond Road
• Centerville Road
• John Tyler Highway (Route 5)
• Greensprings Road

Police will direct traffic during the event to aid in preventing delays. Cyclists will travel on the roadways throughout the day even when traffic is moving steadily, so drivers should use caution.

The Colonial Fondo is held in conjunction with the UCI Road World Championships in Richmond. This event is sponsored by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.
