Former Jamestown Golfer Tremps Garners CAA Men's Golfer of the Week Honors

Cougars No. 17 In Nation In Latest Golfweek Rankings

RICHMOND, Va. - College of Charleston graduate senior Nick Tremps (Williamsburg, Va.) garnered Colonial Athletic Association Men's Golfer of the Week honors, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.

Tremps, a transfer from the University of Virginia, led the Cougars to their second-consecutive Top-5 finish of the season at the Shoal Creek Invitational hosted by Graeme McDowell on Sept. 28-29 at the Shoal Creek Golf Club in Birmingham, Ala. He shot even par (74-69-73) for the tournament tying for seventh on the individual leaderboard with a second-round 69 and a tournament-leading 42 pars.

The par-72 course was familiar to Tremps, who qualified for and played in the 2008 U.S. Junior Amateur Championships at Shoal Creek. He is currently pursuing his master's degree in public administration at CofC.

As a team, CofC placed fifth (+11) at the tournament and beat out two preseason Golfweek-ranked squads in the field in No. 8 South Carolina (+12) in sixth and No. 20 Washington (+18) in seventh. It catapulted the Cougars to No. 17 in the nation in the latest Golfweek rankings. They had previously received votes in last week's Bushnell Golfweek Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll.
