Hickory Neck Episcopal Church has an unusual Easter Egg hunt

The Easter Egg Hunt at Hickory Neck Episcopal Church was a little different this year. The Easter bunny still left at least 450 colored eggs on the church lawns. It still took less than five minutes for excited children to scoop them up.

However, this year the eggs did not contain treats but were filled with paper play dollars. Inside the Parish House three large baskets had been set out, each labeled with the name of a local charity that benefited young people. Breathless participants from the hunt put their paper dollars in the basket of their choice and, in turn, were able to select a bag of candies, donated and packed by the congregation.

When the day was done, the paper dollars in each basket were counted. Three local charities will be given matching real dollars from Hickory Neck's outreach funds.

Thus, sweet Easter bunny treats were spread throughout Williamsburg.
