Karen Joyner, Chief Executive Officer at the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank, and a graduate of William and Mary, spoke to Kiwanis about the work of the Foodbank and how it receives and distributes the food around the Peninsula. Karen had a varied career in the business world before she made the switch to the non-profit world. In her talk, she gave recognition to the many partners (mostly grocery stores) who contribute food, and to the volunteers who enable the Foodbank to continue its work. From the contributions, in cash and in goods, millions of meals are provided each year to the needy in our area. In addition to her work with the Foodbank, Karen is active on several other non-profit committees and acts as a Kindergarten Sunday School teacher.
