Kiwanis learns about Revolutionary War hero buried on Governor's Palace Grouinds

The Kiwanis Club of Colonial Capital heard a presentation about Colonel Alexander Scammell, a patriot of the American Revolutionary War Army who was wounded at the Battle of Yorktown and later died at the Governor's Palace which was being used as a hospital at the time. He is believed to have been buried on the Palace grounds with 156 of his fellow soldiers. The program was presented by Ben Fegan who is an Associate in the Order of Founders and Patriots of America and is a past president of the local chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.
