Mount Vernon United Methodist Church will conduct a special Memorial Day Service at its James City Chapel Cemetery in Norge (across from Farm Fresh) at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 28. A WWI Toano hero will be remembered during the service. Nathaniel Hall Jennings died in France 100 years ago, and was reinterred here in 1922. He graduated from William & Mary and was a teacher and the principal at the historic Five Forks School when he was called to serve in WWI. A wreath will be placed on Jennings' grave by two mothers in the church who almost lost their sons in recent military conflicts.
