New Soroptimist International of Williamsburg installs new officers and board

At its June meeting, the new officers and board of Soroptimist International of Williamsburg were installed by past president Cathy Waltrip. Soroptimist International is an organization established over 95 years ago with the mission of improving the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment. Annual local fundraisers include the winter pancake supper and the spring fashion show. Monies raised go to local service projects including the Live Your Dream Awards for single working Moms heading up households while trying to improve their economic status through additional training. Scholarships are also awarded to high school senior girls who will be attending college after graduation. Likewise funds are given to Thomas Nelson Community College to their emergency fund to help students who have incurred a temporary hardship. Additional funds go to local organizations such as FISH and Hospice House,

The new 2018-19 officers and board of Soroptimist International include President, Jeanice Bryant, Vice President Heather Jankovich, Treasurer Betty Nester, Recording Secretary Beckie Paluzsay, Corresponding Secretary Molly Whetzel, Board members Patricia Byrd-Pritchett and Margie Ware, Delegates are Karen Armstead and Mary Blunt. Willie Mae McCracken is the immediate past president.
