Scouts celebrate Scout Sunday

Scouts and their families from Boy Scout Troop 103 and Cub Scout Pack 103 commemorated 2018 Boy Scouts of America Scout Sunday on February 11 at Williamsburg United Methodist Church, marking 108 years of Scouting in America. Traditionally, February 4 is the day meant to designate the founding of the scouting movement in the United States. Scout Sunday was established in the mid-1940s to bring greater awareness to Scouting movement and the value of scouting as a youth program. It is celebrated every year to recognize the contributions of young people and adults to Scouting. Boy Scout Troop 103, continuously chartered since 1924, is one of the oldest troops in Virginia. Williamsburg United Methodist Church on Jamestown Road has sponsored the Troop since 1984.
