Sister Cities Yorktown to Host 14 French Visitors

YORKTOWN, VA. -- As one of the concluding events of the 25th anniversary of Sister Cities Yorktown, 12 students and two teachers from Port-Vendres and Ceret, France, will visit Yorktown, Oct. 14-22 in conjunction with Yorktown Day.

York County students, who visited France in March this year, will host the French students in their homes. Many wonderful friendships were made during that earlier exchange, and this is a chance to return the hospitality. Visiting and host students will have an ambitious schedule.

The visitors will attend classes with their hosts at York, Tabb and Grafton High Schools. They will tour Yorktown, Jamestown and Williamsburg, and they will march in the Yorktown Day Parade on Oct. 19. Sister Cities Yorktown will sponsor a dinner for host families and student guests at Joe & Mimma's that evening.

In addition to the student exchanges, Sister Cities Yorktown hosted a group of eight citizens, including the mayor of Port-Vendres, in conjunction with the visit of L'Hermione in June.
