St. Martin's 55th Anniversary

St. Martin's, Williamsburg, celebrated its 55th anniversary on Sept. 23. The service was held under a tent next to the Billsburg Brewery. The first service of St. Martin's was at the historic Old Jamestown Church on Jamestown Island National Park. As this sight is undergoing extensive archaeological work, we were unable to recreate the first service there. Billsburg Brewery is located within the Jamestown Yacht Basin next to the Jamestown settlement. They graciously welcomed us to use their facility for our full Eucharistic service. After the service, lunch was available for purchase from the Creekside Catering Food truck.
Parishioners brought lawn chairs or sat at picnic tables under a tent and enjoyed music throughout the service performed by four guitarists, a soloist, and heard a lively rendition of "Freedom is Coming" by the choir. The Rev. Canon Charles Robinson joined our celebration and delivered the sermon. The beautiful weather helped to make St. Martin's 55th anniversary one that will be remembered for a long time.
