Walnut Hills Baptist Church Summer Missions

Walnut Hills Baptist Church, 1014 Jamestown Road, has an active mission emphasis this summer. Under the leadership of Rev. Graham Cheek, Minister of Youth and Children, some 20 teens and their leaders attended MFuge, Philadelphia, a mission experience involving Bible study, fellowship and hands on mission work. Teens participated in service projects such as painting, yard work, working in a homeless shelter and facilitating activities with children in parks.

Acteens and GA's attended Cross Roads Camp in the Blue Ridge Mountains for a week of learning more about God and service to others.

Some 120 children attended "Maker Fun Factory" Vacation Bible School the week of July 18.
A Chinese J-1 ministry led by members of the Peninsula Chinese Baptist Church, meets at Walnut Hills every Tuesday at 6 for Bible study and a Chinese meal with American desserts provided by Walnut Hills mission groups. . Under the leadership of Terri Bolt, Walnut Hills sponsors two events, a picnic and an ice cream social, at the Pineapple Inn to welcome J-1 students from all over the world. Several families participate in a "summer families" program to welcome students into their homes for a family meal.

Walnut Hills members, Dan and Susan Gaske, join other VA Baptists to serve on the Standing Rock Reservation in North and South Dakota this week. The reservation is home to about 8,500 people.
