Williamsburg Chapter Attends Birthday Celebration for James Monroe

Members of the Williamsburg Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution attended the 261st Birthday Celebration Ceremony for Fifth President James Monroe at Westmoreland County, VA. The event was presented by the James Monroe Memorial Foundation and twenty-nine patriotic organizations attended and participated in the wreath-laying ceremony. James Monroe attended W&M, fought in six major battles in the Revolutionary War (being severely wounded at Trenton, NJ), and served in numerous Virginia and U.S. government positions before being elected Fifth President.
