Williamsburg Chapter Sons of the American Revolution Attends Battle of Great Bridge Commemoration

The National Society, Virginia Society and chapters, and other state societies and chapters of both the Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution gathered to present wreaths at a ceremony in Great Bridge Battlefield Park, Chesapeake, VA. Virginia and North Carolina militia units defeated a British force organized by Royal Governor Dunmore at the Great Bridge in December, 1775. Dunmore fled soon thereafter. This effectively ended the British government of Virginia - a major success in our War of Independence.
