Kraft Heinz Foods is recalling more than 2 million pounds of turkey bacon products because they may spoil before the date marked on the package, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said Tuesday.

In its second recall since the merger of H.J. Heinz and Kraft Foods Group last month, Kraft Heinz recalled Oscar Mayer turkey bacon produced between May 31 and Aug. 6. Classified as a Class II, the recall represented a “remote probability of adverse health consequences from the use of the product,” according to the USDA announcement.

Kraft Heinz spokesman Michael Mullen said the company was voluntarily withdrawing the products.

“Although this premature spoilage is not a food safety issue, the affected product may not deliver the high quality taste, texture and appearance our consumers expect from Oscar Mayer,” Mullen said in a statement. “We regret this situation and we apologize to everyone we have disappointed.”

Specifically, the turkey bacon recall is limited to:

*The four-pack (56 oz.) size of Oscar Mayer Selects Uncured Turkey Bacon with Best When Used By dates of Aug. 24, 2015, through Oct. 26, 2015.

*The three-pack (36 oz.) size of Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon with Best When Used By dates of Aug., 28, 2015, through Oct. 20, 2015.

*The four-pack (48 oz.) size of Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon with Best When Used By dates of Sept. 3, 2015, through Oct. 30, 2015.

All of the recalled packages also had the manufacturing code P9070 RS19.

While the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service had not received any confirmed reports of adverse reactions to the turkey bacon, Kraft Heinz has received reports of illness related to the products, according to the USDA announcement.

Last month, Kraft Heinz recalled about 36,000 cases of Kraft Singles after consumers reported a choking hazard due to the individual packaging film sticking to the cheese.

And in March, the Kraft Foods Group recalled about 242,000 cases of the original flavor of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Dinner because of the possibility that some boxes contained small pieces of metal. No injuries were reported, according to a company news release.
